VISITOR VISA

For tourists, business visitors or to visit family for 3, 6 or 12 months

Purpose – this visa stream lets you to visit Australia as a tourist for sightseeing, to visit friends and family, cruise or have a holiday.

Eligibility – to have enough funds for your stay in Australia and to be a genuine visitor

Important – holders of a visitor visa can study up to 3 months but they are not allowed to take employment.

Length of stay – up to 12 months

Visa processing feeAUD $145. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Processing time – up to 26 days.

Purpose – this visa stream lets people who are sponsored (usually by a family member) to visit their family members in Australia.

Eligibility – to have enough funds for your stay in Australia and to be a genuine visitor

Important – the applicant must be sponsored by an eligible family member who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Also, the Department of HOM Affairs might ask your sponsor to pay a deposit/security bond.

Length of stay – up to 12 months

Visa processing feeAUD $145. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Processing time – up to 36 days.

Purpose – this visa stream lets you to visit Australia for business reasons.

Eligibility – to have enough funds for your stay in Australia and to be a genuine business visitor.

Important – you are not allowed to take employment or sell goods or services. You allowed for example, participation in a conference, trade fair or seminar in Australia but you cannot be paid by an organizer for participation. Or making a general business or employment enquiry, market research, negotiating or entering into business contract.

Length of stay – up to 3 months

Visa processing feeAUD $145. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Processing time – up to 18 days.

Purpose – this visa lets you to visit, transit Australia for to 72 hours.

Eligibility – to have enough funds for your stay in Australia and to be a genuine visitor.

Important – the Maritime Crew visa (MCV subclass 988) holders can use the transit visa to enter Australia by air to join a non-military ship. Some people are eligible to transit without a visa.

Length of stay – up to 72 hours

Visa processing feeAUD $0 (free).

Processing time – up to 15 days.

Purpose – this visa lets you to travel to or remain for longer period in Australia because of medical treatment. You can support someone needing medical treatment who holds or has applied for this visa. This visa is also for people who are donating an organ.

Eligibility – to have enough funds for your stay in Australia and must not have a medical condition that could be threat for public health.

Important – you must comply with all visa conditions and obey Australian Laws. You must leave the country before your visa ends.

Length of stay – temporarily (you can stay in Australia until the treatment plan or medical consultations are completed.

Visa processing fee – if you are applying outside of Australia AUD $0 (free).

Processing time – up to 46 days.

Purpose – this visa lets young adults to have an extended holiday in Australia and to work there to help to fund their trip.

Purpose – this visa lets young adults to have an extended holiday in Australia and to work there to help to fund their trip.

ELECTRONIC TRAVEL AUTHORITY (ETA) Visa (subclass 601)

Purpose – this visa stream lets you to visit Australia as a tourist for sightseeing, to visit friends and family, or to have some business visitor activities and hold a passport from an eligible country.

Eligibility – to have enough funds for your stay in Australia and to be a genuine visitor

Important – whilst on ETA you have no work rights – it is illegal to work on an ETA.

Length of stay – up to 3 months stay each time you enter Australia within 12 months from the date of visa issue.

Visa processing fee – There is an online application service charge of AUD $20. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Processing time – processing time for this visa is not available.

STUDYING AND TRAINING VISAS

Purpose – visit Australia to attend your course or study with the relevant education provider.

Eligibility – to have enough funds for your stay in Australia, to be enrolled in course of study and to provide evidence, to meet the English language requirements, have adequate health insurance and that you have genuine intention to study.

Important – student visa allows you to work up to 40 hours in a fortnight (fortnight means the period of 14 days starting on a Monday).

Length of stay – up to 5 years (your stay in Australia is related to your enrolment).

Visa processing fee – from AUD $620 (unless exempt). This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Processing time – may vary and it depends on student visa sectors.

Purpose – this visa allows you to come to Australia and provide care and support for a student visa holder who is under 18 years of age.

Eligibility – you must be the student’s parent, custodian or relative who is 21 years or older, have enough financial means to support yourself and the student during your stay and be able to provide accommodation, welfare and other support.

Important – you cannot work but you can study up to 3 months.

Length of stay – your stay in Australia will be determined with the length of the student visa holder’s stay and his/her age (until the student turns 18).

Visa processing fee – from AUD $620 for the main applicant. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Processing time – may vary and it depends on student visa sectors.

Purpose – this visa allows you to come to Australia and to take part in workplace-based occupational training activities or in a professional development training program.

Eligibility – you must have an approved sponsor in Australia, must be nominated by that sponsor, must have an adequate health insurance for the length of your stay, you must be 18 years old or older, must have a relevant level of English and to be a genuine temporary entrant.

Important – you must have enough funds to support yourself during your stay in Australia.

Length of stay – up to 2 years.

Processing time – up to 2 months.

WORKING AND SKILLED VISAS

Purpose – this visa lets you to perform work in Australia as a foreign crew member that meets the normal operational requirements of your ship.

Eligibility – when you apply for this visa you must be outside of Australia and you must be an articled crew member on a non- military ship on international journeys to enter Australia by sea.

Important – members of your family unit can also apply for MCV if they are accompanying you on the ship and if they have permission from vessel master. They must lodge separate applications.

Length of stay – you can stay in Australia as long as you are a crew member of a non-military ship that is in Australia.

Visa processing feeAUD $0 (free).

Processing time – up to 3 days.

Purpose – this visa lets you to perform short-term, highly specialised work in Australia. It is suitable if you have specialised skills, knowledge or experience not generally available in Australia.

Eligibility – you must have highly specialized skills or work experience which cannot be reasonably found in Australia and your knowledge and experience can help Australian business.

Important – you can only do the work for which your visa was granted.

Length of stay – generally, up to 3 months. For the stay up to 6 months (depending on circumstances) a strong business case must be provided with the application.

Visa processing feeAUD $310. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Processing time – up to 22 days.

Purpose – this visa lets you to work in specific circumstances that improve Australia’s international relations.

Eligibility – each stream has specific eligibility requirements.

Important – you can work under the terms and conditions of a bilateral agreement between the Australian Government and your country.

Length of stay – depends on the visa stream, up to 4 years.

Visa processing feeAUD $310. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Purpose – this visa lets you to work as a foreign language teacher or a representative of a foreign government agency.

Points Tested Stream

Purpose – this visa lets you to live and work permanently anywhere in Australia if you have relevant skills and are invited.

Eligibility – you must be invited to apply (to pass the relevant points test – be able to score 65 points or more); you must be under 45 to be invited, you must have relevant language skills and suitable skilled occupation.

Important – for a valid application you must declare that you have a suitable skills assessment at the time of invitation.

Length of staypermanently.

Visa processing fee – from AUD $4,045. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Processing time – up to 33 months.

Short Term Stream

Purpose – this visa lets you to work for the Australian employer sponsor based on your special skills. The Australian employer employs you because he cannot find on the Australian labor market a suitably skilled Australian to fit the position in his company.

Eligibility – your occupation must be on the short-term skilled occupations list; have at least 2 years relevant work experience in your nominated occupation or a related field; have a relevant skills assessment if this required for your occupation and meet minimum standard of English language proficiency unless you are exempt from needing to show this.

Important – you can include family members in your visa application.

Length of stay – up to 2 years or up to 4 years if an International Trade Obligation (ITO) applies.

Visa processing fee – from AUD $1,265. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Processing time – up to 61 days.

FAMILY AND PARTNER VISAS

Purpose – this visa lets you come to Australia to marry your prospective spouse and then apply for Partner visa.

Eligibility – you must be 18 years old or older, be sponsored and intends to marry your prospective spouse in Australia before the visa period ends.

Important – with this visa you can work in Australia, study at your expense and stay in the country for 9 months from the date of grant of visa.

Visa processing fee – from AUD $7,715. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Processing time – up to 19 months.

Purpose – this visa lets you come to Australia as a de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia temporarily (Provisional). This is a first stage towards getting a Permanent Partner visa (subclass 100)

Eligibility – you must be 18 years old or older, be sponsored and be in genuine relationship with your spouse or de facto partner.

Important – you apply for the temporary and the permanent partner visa together. With this visa you can work in Australia

Length of staytemporarily until the decision will be made on your Partner (Migrant) visa (subclass 100).

Visa processing fee – from AUD $7,715. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration Australia to process your application.

Processing time – up to 20 months.

Purpose – this visa lets you come to Australia to live with your parents who are Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Eligibility – you must be dependent child of a parent who is an Australian citizen, eligible New Zealand citizen or holder of an Australian permanent visa; be under 18 years, a full-time student aged over 18 and under 25 and financially dependent on the parent, or over 18 and unable to work due to a disability and be single and dependent on the parent.

Important – with this visa you can work and study in Australia and stay in the country indefinitely.
